12/29

High: Purchasing metro cards, making public transportation a possibility.

Low: Getting extremely lost on the metro system... ending in a 3 mile walk home at midnight.

Details: After sleeping for approximately 12 hours, we woke up and went to a nearby subway station to purchase our metro passes. Then we had about an hour to spare, so we just wandered around the 5th arrondissement/Latin Quarter (where we are staying). We stumbled across the Pantheon, which was breath taking! I cannot get over how much history and beauty exists in this city... I have to constantly pinch myself!

Next was lunch. We went to Le Marche Franprix, a small grocery like store, and purchased a baguette, cheese, and wine. FYI food comas exist is France too, it's not just Texas! We ended up passing out and getting some much needed rest.

After our power naps, we hoped on a bus and ventured to the Champs de Mars to see the Eiffel Tower. This was a very successful trip! After seeing the tower and the nearby carnival, we went to the Bastille to grab dinner and a drink at a local bar. This is where the night takes a humbling twist... We try to take the subway home, and get completely lost. Then the buses stopped running and we were forced to walk to our hotel. That's one way to learn your way around...
